Channel Lettering Makes Great Impression

Jason Cartwright of Funk Signs in Dodgeville Wisconsin landed a contract with a newly constructed mall, to provide channel letter signs for two of its corporate clients, Radio Shack and U.S. Cellular. And although Jason did not have an on-site metal fabrication shop, he knew exactly who to call to make this project a success.

Custom channel lettering is just one of the many services that Graphics House Imaging provides it's customers on a daily basis. With the job specs in hand, the fab shop went to work creating the signs.

The lettering was built using traditional fabrication methods. .032 thick aluminum substrate was bent and cut into the desired shapes, based on specifications provided by both Radio Shack and U.S. Cellular. Each sign was lit using LED lights which run at a lower volatage and are easier to maintain than traditional lighting methods. Because of this, Jason did not need any extra licensing or training to install the signs.

Also used were aluminum rollers, hammers, electric welders, vices, and good old fashion blood, sweat, and tears. Some of the pieces required a direct print onto half inch white acrylic, using the Legget & Platt Virtu rigid substrate printer. When completed, the letters where then placed on a painted raceway and returns, which are the outsides of the signs, for final assembly.

The customer was so happy, not only with the product, but also the pricing, he decided to drive from Wisconsin personally to take delivery instead of using a freight company.
